End-Of-The-Year Insurance Letter to Patients

We hope the fall season has been good to you and yours. As we approach the end of the year, we would like to remind you that your dental insurance benefits are about to expire for 2014.

When 2015 arrives, your dental insurance will automatically reset to the annual benefit cap. If you do not use those benefits you lose them! (Those dollars that could be used to pay for your family’s dentistry just vanish). Many people do not realize this and let hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars worth of benefits go back into the insurance company’s bank account.

Treatment is never dictated by insurance. Just remember, if you have dental treatment that you’ve been delaying, you should have it completed before the end of the year.

Here’s an example of the smart way to use your dental insurance benefits: There’s two months left of 2014 and you have $500 dollars of benefits left from the original $1,000 balance. You have dental work needed that can be split into different appointments. The total cost of your dentistry will be about $1400.

Situation A: You have the first parts of the dental treatment completed for $600 before December 31st. Insurance pays you $500. On January 1st, your plan “resets” and you have $1000 in benefits coming. You have the next portion of treatment completed for about $1,200. Insurance pays you $1,000. Total insurance company dollars paid – $1,500. Total you pay – $300.

Situation B: You don’t get around to getting your dentistry completed until February 2015. Sadly, on December 31st, 2014 you lost $500 in insurance benefits. After your dentistry is completed in February, you submit a claim and the insurance company pays you. $1,000. Total insurance company dollars paid – $1,000. Total you pay – $800.

At PRACTICE NAME, we want every single one of our patients to have great dental health and to enjoy every day. That means that you look good, you feel good, you have strong teeth and gums, and you enjoy the benefits of a healthy, attractive smile for a lifetime. If you would like to make an appointment, just give us a call and we will find a time that is convenient for you. Just remember that when the clock strikes 12 midnight on December 31st, you will lose any unused dental benefits. We are happy to help you get the full benefits that you are entitled to under your dental benefits policy.

Here’s to helping you achieve excellent dental health!
